It would obviously be a trick, because everyone knows that you can't very well leave earth without a towel and a copy of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. That aside, as much as a once in a lifetime opportunity it might be, anyone that has someone they care about might struggle with it.

Whats a lifetime of exploration worth if you can't share it with anyone, most of all those for whom you care for?
